Le verre teinté est un verre clair flotté normal dans lequel des colorants fondus sont ajoutés pour les propriétés de teinture et d'absorption du rayonnement solaire, ce qui réduit la pénétration de la chaleur dans les bâtiments. Le verre coloré est un élément architectural important pour l'aspect extérieur des façades. Il est également utilisé dans la décoration intérieure (portes, cloisons, panneaux d'escalier, miroirs, ...).
